Delivering Workplace Hospitality Using Personas

Understanding work personalities can transform your workplace hospitality strategies. In our article "Delivering Workplace Hospitality Using Personas," we delve into insights from Slack and YouGov's survey of over 15,000 global desk workers.

Discover how to cater to distinct personas like The Detective, The Road Warrior, The Networker, The Problem Solver, and The Expressionist. By tailoring your hospitality services to these unique needs, you can enhance your workplace environment and boost employee satisfaction and engagement. Read on to learn more about optimising your hospitality approach.

The Detective

The Detective is described as an investigative type who seeks knowledge and shares solutions with others. They are organised, prefer to figure things out on their own, and have a good understanding of what is happening in the company.

Hospitality services that would appeal to the Detective would include local information about the office area (dining, shopping), to make wise decisions about their free time, and thorough product/service research, to narrow down their options when seeking services like home repair or maintenance.

The Road Warrior

The Road Warrior is known for working from different locations at different times. They are adaptable and prioritise developing connections. They tend to work away from their desk, so making their workplace suit flexibility is key.

Road Warriors would feel at home with multiple common areas and shared spaces. Creating events where they can socialise and share their “war stories” would attract them, as well as providing travel planning for their frequent trips.

The Networker

The Networker is highly collaborative and excels at communication. They are extroverted and actively connect everyone with the information they need. They are more common in the UK, the US, and Germany.

Networkers love fostering connections with their peers, so having a robust schedule of events where they can socialise and connect with their co-workers is optimal. They love being personally greeted and would relish help in orchestrating audio-visual needs and conference room management, so they can focus on the people rather than the logistics.

The Problem Solver

The Problem Solver is focused on automation and efficiency. They are early adopters of technology, excel at streamlining work tasks, and are excited about artificial intelligence (AI). They are more frequently found in India, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore.

Problem solvers are AI early adopters, with very little fear of technology, so providing on-site training opportunities and events showcasing new tech would be very appealing. They are drawn to tools that make them more efficient, so providing digital solutions to amenity requests is a must.

The Expressionist

The Expressionist is less formal in both their work and personal styles. They prioritise making work fun and light-hearted and prefer an inclusive environment where they can express their personality and spread their infectious humour.

Expressionists will look for the fun so offering amenities like event tickets, travel planning and dining reservations will support their lifestyle. They’ll likely enjoy escorting and wayfinding and use it as a way to set the tone of the day with their co-workers.
