In our working lives we meet people who ooze with passion for their work and others who have lost the spark. How important is this passion - and how can employers help staff reignite their passion at work?

In our working lives we meet people who ooze with passion for their work and others who have lost the spark. How important is this passion - and how can employers help staff reignite their passion at work?

Offer development opportunities

Sometimes we lose passion at work because we've done the same thing for too long and we grow bored and stagnant in the role. LinkedIn found that 94% of employees would stay at a company longer if they were given training and development opportunities. This can benefit the organisation too, as IBM found that well-trained teams saw a 10% boost in productivity.

Provide a meaningful company mission

Often passion can be reignited if employees can genuinely get behind the organisation and what they stand for. McKinsey & Company identified that 82% of employees surveyed felt it was important for their employer to have a purpose. If employees can get behind the core essence of an organisation, they are more likely to be engaged at work.

Create a workplace culture

Uniting staff under a common umbrella can help ensure they remain engaged. Aviva found that 54% of respondents felt that their organisation was attempting to cultivate a sense of togetherness in the workplace culture.

Give employees a reason to be passionate

Each employee is different. Playing to their strengths and interests, allowing each member of staff to shine within their role, and offering opportunities to do so can help ensure they remain passionate.
